What We Focus On Grows
As we're approaching spring, I'm reminded of a phrase my teacher instilled in me: "What we focus on grows."
If we focus on what we want to cultivate, that will grow. But if we are consumed by stress, anger, complaining, or any difficult emotion, which is usually unconscious, it will also grow.
So, to utilize this sprouting energy that we are all subject to, we need to consider what wants to grow that will benefit us and everyone around us. This could be something we want to do, but, more importantly, what we want to become, which will affect everything we do.
Becoming kind, patient, and peaceful are all traits that will have a profound ripple effect on our own well-being and on everyone we come into contact with. And these traits are easiest to cultivate in the spring, as they pertain to the emotions that reflect a balanced flow of Liver Qi (energy).
The liver qi is strongest in the spring, making it the optimal time to balance any disharmony. Imbalanced liver qi often manifests as anger and frustration, but we can shift that upward-moving, aggressive energy into inspiration.
Inspiration is the flip side of anger and frustration, the same energy turned from negative to positive. Anger and frustration contract us, inspiration expands us.
Each season also has a bodily tissue that's in energetic high tide, and in the spring, it's our connective tissue and tendons, which makes it the best time of year to increase our flexibility. So if you want to move with ease and confidence, this is the season to make that happen!
Hope to breathe with you soon.
From my heart to yours~
Namaste,
Maggie
