What You Focus On Grows…

The energy shift from the dead of winter into the 'quickening' promise of spring is happening - and it's one of my favorite times.

Not because it's particularly beautiful outside, because it's not; it's grey - a lot this winter.

But with the thaw and the bird song, even the smell reminds us that energy is moving upward from the deep winter stillness into the subtle greening ~ HOPE is palatable.

This dormant energy is awakening in us, too. Winter is the time of transformation. It's time to observe what wants to grow.

What seeds of ideas are starting to germinate in you? This is something to consider because if we're not clear and focused, anything can grow - including weeds that take over our energy and intention.

What we focus on grows. So, where are we putting our time and attention? If we're complaining a lot, that weed-like behavior will grow.

What we practice gets stronger.

How do we want to BE? When we focus on that, we slowly become it. We can start to journal more about how we want to BE, which infuses everything we DO.

The spring energy (Qi) arising soon corresponds to the wood element, which resonates with the energy of the liver and gallbladder.

When this energy is well-balanced, it appears inspired, kind, and easy-going. These are ways of BEING that are the easiest to cultivate in the spring. Let's focus on them so they'll grow!

If we don't move our bodies much and our liver qi becomes stagnant and imbalanced, we suffer from frustration and anger. And nobody wants to cultivate anger and frustration!

So, moving the qi is the way to becoming inspired and kind, as the liver is responsible for an even flow of qi throughout our entire body.

The connective tissue, or fascia, is the bodily tissue corresponding to the liver qi, as the bones correspond to the kidney qi.

We've done bone tapping and bone breathing this winter to strengthen our bones, as the winter is the time to fortify the bones! The spring is the easiest time to work on our flexibility as we stretch the connective tissue.

And if we want to enjoy the spring by moving with grace and ease - becoming flexible and strong is the way to do it!

I hope to see you in class soon so you can be springy, inspired, and kind with an easy-going disposition - because then you're living the good life!

Blessings,

Maggie
